Rahal Letterman Lanigan BMWs Sweep Top Two Spots at Brickyard

BMW finally did it – with authority.

The BMW M Team RLL earned its first on-track victory in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTP class in the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as the prototypes prepared by longtime INDYCAR SERIES team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing finished 1-2 in the six-hour endurance race that featured mixed conditions and plenty of chaos.

Bourdais Drives Ganassi-Prepared Cadillac To IMSA Pole at Brickyard

Four-time INDYCAR SERIES champion Bourdais earned the overall and GTP class pole Saturday for the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The six-hour race starts at 11:40 a.m. ET Sunday on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course.

Defending Winners Put Porsche Penske Out Front in IMSA Practice at Brickyard

This is only the second year of the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but it looks like there’s one IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship team that has figured out the Brickyard more than any other.

Reigning event winners Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet led the opening practice Friday for the six-hour endurance sports car event Sunday, as Jaminet turned a top lap of 1 minute, 16.138 seconds in the No. 6 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963 GTP prototype.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway takes on a new look this year, as the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks becomes a six-hour endurance race.

Fifty-six cars across the four WeatherTech Championship classes are entered for the penultimate race of the season that airs in its entirety on Peacock starting at 11:30 a.m. ET Sunday, Sept. 22. NBC joins the coverage at 3 p.m. through the finish at the 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course that incorporates the front straight of the famous Indy oval.
